Performance Measurement of Remote ATM Cluster
نویسندگان
چکیده
We investigate the configuration and performance of remote commodity computing clusters. This is the dynamic pooling of separate clusters into a single large remote cluster via existing LANs or even the Internet. We discuss the configuration and setup of these remote clusters, as well as the networks since these clusters are on separate Ethernet subnets and separate ATM switches. We show that pure switching networks add little additional overhead to remote cluster computing applications, whereas routers can a have significant impact. 1 Certain commercial items may be identified but that does not imply recommendation or endorsement by NIST, nor does it imply that those items are necessarily the best available for the purpose. 2 Charlotte Martin was a university guest researcher at NIST from the Institut National des Telecommunications, Paris, France.

Secure Bio-Cryptographic Authentication System for Cardless Automated Teller Machines
Security is a vital issue in the usage of Automated Teller Machine (ATM) for cash, cashless and many off the counter banking transactions. Weaknesses in the use of ATM machine could not only lead to loss of customer’s data confidentiality and integrity but also breach in the verification of user’s authentication. Several challenges are associated with the use of ATM smart card such as: card clo...

This study evaluates the performance of an Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) local area network (LAN) for general as well as parallel distributed computing. General distributed computing uses client-server based applications that employ Remote Procedure Call (RPC) on top of the TCP/UDP/IP protocol. These applications typically require high throughput, good response time, and fairness. In contras...
متن کاملParallel Data Mining on ATM-Connected PC Cluster and Optimization of Its Execution Environments
In this paper, we have constructed a large scale ATM-connected PC cluster consists of 100 PCs, implemented a data mining application, and optimized its execution environment. Default parameters of TCP retransmission mechanism cannot provide good performance for data mining application, since a lot of collisions occur in the case of all-to-all multicasting in the large scale PC cluster. Using a ...
متن کاملUsing Available Remote Memory Dynamically for Parallel Data Mining Application on ATM-Connected PC Cluster
Personal computer/Workstation (PC/WS) clusters are promising candidates for future high performance computers, because of their good scalability and cost performance ratio. Data intensive applications, such as data mining and ad hoc query processing in databases, are considered very important for massively parallel processors, as well as conventional scientific calculations. Thus, investigating...

This report experimentally assesses the effect of the underlying network in a cluster-based computing environment. The assessment is quantified by application-level benchmarking, process-level communication, and network file input/output. Two testbeds were considered-one small cluster of Sun workstations and another larger cluster composed of 32 high-end IBM RS/6000 platforms. The clusters had ...
